  [S1068] Kyle family fonds, (Cowichan Valley Museum and Archives). Biographical history J.A. (John Albert) Kyle (1884-1951) worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in the early 1900s, first on the B.C. mainland and then on Vancouver Island, after the CPR took over the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway. Son Val (Valentine Howard) Kyle was born in Victoria in 1912. Sometime between 1912 and 1917, the family came to Duncan. In 1917, son Bert (Gordon Albert) was born in Duncan. At one time, J.A. Kyle was the conductor of the train to Lake Cowichan. In 1924, J.A. Kyle opened his Duncan Taxi business. His sons later joined him in the business, purchasing the company from their father in 1948.
