In 1816, William Jr. ORSER petitioned the government for the land of his brother John, who had been killed fighting in the 1812 war. In 1818, he was granted 300 acres of land in Carleton Co. and it was there that he built a home. In the spring of 1831, he sold his farm to his younger half-brother Evard (s/o William ORSER & Mary BLAKE) for fifty pounds; Evard ORSER signed a ten-year note on the farm. Evard was M. to Abby SHAW. William Jr. & Mary were to move to Kingston [Upper Canada?present day Ontario] & they left for Saint John City in 1831 to board a ship bound for Kingston. No one ever heard from them again.
