Nicholas made the journey to the Massachusetts Bay Colony with all of his siblings, his wife Elizabeth & their two-year-old daughter Alice. Judging by Alice’s birthdate, it is estimated the Phillips family in arrived in North America about 1633 or 1634.
He was an inhabitant of Contentment (later renamed Dedham) Bef. 18 Aug 1636 & was granted 12 acres of land there that bordered the Charles River.
In Nov 1637, Nicholas & three other men were commissioned by the town to fell trees for the construction of a meeting house.
6 April 1638, Nicholas laid "downe a p'cell of ground for a buriall place" at Dedham.
28 Aug 1638, he was chosen "to mowe," gather & bring home thatch for the public meeting house.
1 Aug 1639, Nicholas sold his Dedham land & moved his family to the neighboring town of Weymouth.
13 May 1640, Nicholas was admitted a freeman.
11 June 1651 is the date Nicholas’ wife, Elizabeth PHILLIPS, signs a document acknowledging her consent in her husband’s sale of several parcels of land and a house to Francis Smyth of Hingham—she signs it with her initials, E P.
By 8 Feb 1660, Nicholas had become a deacon in the First Congregational Church in Weymouth.
Deacon PHILLIPS received 13 acres of land in the First Division and he received 39 acres of land in the Second Division in Weymouth on 14 Dec 1663.
He made his will 2 June 1671 ("age about Sixty Yeares or theirabout"). In it, he mentions his sons (Richard, Joshua and Benjamin), his daughters (AliceShaw, Experience King, Hannah White and Abigail Phillips), his “…loving brother” (Henry Phillips) and his “…loving friends” (Thomas Dyer and Jonas Humphrey). An inventory of his estate was taken on 7 Sept 1672. The value was estimated at 257.11.6 and was proved by his son Richard on 3 Oct 1672.

1673, he was elected one of the two constables in the town.
On 8 May 1678, Richard was admitted freeman.
Sergeant Richard Phillips was elected in 1683 as one of the seven Selectmen of Weymouth. By 1690, he had been promoted to Ensign in the militia.

He laid" downe a p'cell of ground for a buriall place" at Denham, 6 Apr. 1638.He was chosen " to mowe," gather up and bring home thatch for ye Meeting house,"28 aug 1638.He purchased a lot of Philemon Dalton and sold the same to Henry Phillips before1 Mar. 1641. (Denham Town Records, 1 : 84.) He is last mentioned on the Town Records of Denham under date 23 Feb, 1650 (page 178). He was made a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, 13 May 1640. "Deacon Phillips"recieved thirteen acres in the First Division and thirty-nine acres in the Second Division in Weymouth, 14 Dec. 1663. (Weymouth Land Grants, 282,283,) Hisland were adjoining the land of Martin Phillips (Ibid, 272) He was one of the appreisers of the estate of William Brandon of Weymouth, 23 Nov. 1646 (Register, 7:35), and of Dorothy King's estate, 18 Oct, 1652. He was called Deacon Phillips, 8 Feb, 1660.
He must be distinguished from Nicholas Phillips of Boston, who died, 15 Mar, 1669-70. Deacon Nicholas Phillips of Weymouth was born near 1611,and died at Weymouth between 2 June, 1671, and 7 Sept. 1672
