In his will of 3 October 1693, "Thomas Lind of Maldon Senior" stated that he was "aged about seventy-eight years of age" [MPR Case #14434], which would place his birth about 1615. This would make him about ten years older than his next younger known sibling, and about thirty-two years old at marriage. Pending further evidence, we suggest that the age he gave in his will is inflated by at least five years, and estimate his year of birth as 1622.
In addition to the entries from the Dunstable, Bedfordshire, parish register given above, there are also records for "Annab Line," buried 16 July 1628, and "Anna Line," buried 14 May 1629. If these were children of Thomas Lynde with his first wife, they wouid have been older than the son Richard baptized in November 1625, and so would give some justification for pushing the birth year of the son Thomas back several years. Discovery of the residence of the immigrant Thomas Lynde prior to his appearance in Dunstable should help to resolve these issues.
