      Source from Resurgo, The History of Moncton, Volume 1, 1990 by Pincombe and Larracey, page 116 reports him as the son of William STEADMAN. His business ventures were less than successful.

      Source from Dan Johnston's Vital Statisitcs, August 17, 1839 NB Courier, died at Bend of Petitcodiac 7th inst. Isabella Hannah d/o John STEADMAN, 9 years 7 months. Note: Not sure who the mother is as John married Ann Perrigo 5 years after the birth of Isabella.

He was well known throughout the Province and particularly in Albert Co. where he had been employed in searching for minerals of various kinds for many years. He was a brother of Hon. James STEADMAN, J.C.C. of Fredericton, and brother-in-law, of Joseph CRANDALL, Esq., postmaster Moncton - 'Moncton Times'
