Enoch Place was born circa 1631 in England.

He married Sarah (--?--) on 5 Nov 1657 at Dorchester, MA (John Osbourne Austin, The Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island (Revised; Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1982), page 154.).

When his son Joseph Place sold his farm to Daniel Mackoone and his wife Sarah Place, in 1717, 3 rods square were reserved as the burying place of Enoch Place (South Kingstown, Rhode Island, Land Evidence, n.d., Volume 3a, page 227-230.).

He and others of Narragansett desired to be under the protection of Connecticut on 3 Jul 1663 at Kingstown, RI (Austin, GDRI, page 154.).

On 5 May 1664 at RI Enoch Place was ordered released from prison on giving bonds for £100, to appear and speak further to matter concerning Timothy Mather, whom he accused of speaking words of a very dishonorable nature against his majesty (Ibid.).

He sent a letter to the Selectmen of Dorchester, requesting to move back, but they saw no reason to grant his request on 8 Feb 1668 (Keane, Philip, e-mail, 3 Jun 1998, from Dorchester Town Records, Volume 4, page 156.).

On 19 May 1671 at Pettaquamscutt, RI, Enoch Place took the oath of allegiance to Rhode Island as one of the inhabitants as given by the Court of Commissioners (Enoch was listed after Stephen Northup) (Austin, GDRI, page 154.).

On 22 Nov 1677 at Boston Neck, Kingstown, RI, Enoch Place and Enoch Place and John Kinion were witnesses when Thomas Fry (Genll.
Serjat. of the Colony) gave possession of 350 acres of land in Boston Neck, Narragansett country, to WIlliam Clarke. The land had belonged to John Paine, of Prudence Island, deceased, and was located between the land of the late Captain Thomas Willitt on the south and John Browne on the north (Albert T. Klyberg, Rhode Island Land Evidences, 1 (Abstracts; Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1970), page 128.).

He was taxed £0-1pole money and £0-9-4 for property; listed between John Eldred and Robert Spink Senior; Enoch also signed the assessment as one of the selectmen on 6 Sep 1687 at Kingstown, Washington County, RI (New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Volume 35 (Apr 1881), page 124.).

He served on Grand Jury on 6 Mar 1687/88 at Rochester, RI (Austin, GDRI, page 154.) (Records of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in New England, Volume III, page 238.).

He served on Grand Jury on 11 Dec 1688 at Newport, Newport County, RI (Austin, GDRI, page 154.) (Records of the Colony, Volume III, page 245.).

He bought some land from the Pettaquamscutt Purchasers on 20 May 1693 at Pettaquamscutt, Washington County, RI ("Tables of Contents to the Land and Notarial Records of Rhode Island, Collection in the Secretary of State's Office, Archives Division, State House, Providence, R.I.," Rhode Island Roots, 13, No. 2, page 32 from Volume 2, page 88.).

On 1 Oct 1693 he took Daniel Gould to Canonicut, as Gould recorded in his journal, "I went over the water in a canoe, with old Place." (Austin, GDRI, page 154.).

He died in June 1695 at Kingstown, Washington Co., Rhode Island. He was buried in Jun 1695 at Kingstown, Washington County, RI.

He left a will on 30 May 1694 at Kingstown, Washington County, RI ("Tables of Contents to", page 29 from Volume 2, page 23.); witnessed by John Weeden, Samson Beatty, Josiah Arnold.
