Frederick Enoch (or Woodbury) STEADMAN was born in Boston, MA on September 21, 1861to Enoch and Abbie L. (Woodbury) STEADMAN.
He was educated in the public schools in Boston, his native city. He then followed the sea for a number of years, subsequently becoming a brakeman on the Old Colony Railroad and afterward a baggage-master and conductor on the same road, remaining in its employ for ten years.
In 1893, he purchased a stock farm at Kentville, Nova Scotia, where he was extensively engaged in stockraising and making a specialty of horses.
He was married to Frances W. Cox, daughter of Thomas and Eunice Cox of Kentville, on 31 Nov 1894.
