This was a cavalry unit, and they trained on the parade grounds at Aylesford, which existed before the larger campground at Aldershot, near Kentville. He and Elizabeth lived on the homestead in Billtown and were buried in the family plot in the Billtown Church Cemetery near Benjamin and Mary Ann STEADMAN. This plot is close to the church. The family was now quite definitely in the Baptist Denomination. Edward was probably named after Reverend Edward Manning (1766-1852). He was the local area prominent Baptist minister and a relative; he was the brother of Nancy Manning Eaton, his grandmother. He married Rebecca Skinner in 1801, and they had three daughters. However, over the years, he had several boys named after him.
