The Mail Tribune of 20 February 1999:
Lena F. Brownlee, 96, of Grants Pass and Central Point, died Tuesday at a Grants Pass foster care home. No service is planned.
She was born Lena Berryman on Jan. 16, 19093, in Portland, Maine. On May 31, 1958, in Virginia City, Nev., she married Van E. Brownlee, who survives.
Mrs. Brownlee was a hairdresser for many years. During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Corps. Mrs. Brownlee moved to Klamath Falls in 1930 from San Simeon, CA. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed gardening and painting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, of Central Point, include two sons, Ellis Whitney, Grants Pass, and Fred Whitney, Wenatchee, WA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
