Grant Virginia Louise Dwinnell Grant (Ginny Lou), 80, died at her home in Minneapolis Friday, September 3, 2004. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 10 at Saint Mark's Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis at 9:30 AM. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery. Ginny Lou, the only child of James and Jean Dwinnell, was raised in Minneapolis, She attended Northrop Collegiate School, the Havergale School in Toronto, and the University of Minnesota. She was extremely proud to be a university alumnus and a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She married C. John Grant Jr, also of Minneapolis, in 1948. Upon retirement she and John spent their winters in Naples, Florida. Ginny Lou loved Minneapolis and was very proud of her ties to the city. She was active in the Junior League of Minneapolis, Twin Town Investors, and her monthly Miscellaneous Club meetings. She was a third generation member of Saint Mark's Cathedral and the Minnekahda Club. She loved to travel and embraced other cultures. She always loved learning. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her uncles, Stanley and William Dwinnell; her aunt, Katherine Westen; and her cousins, William Westen, Craig Dwinnell and William Dwinnell. Ginny Lou is survived by her 4 children, their spouses and 9 grandchildren: Jim & Marlene Grant, sons Michael and William, John & Mary Grant, daughters Liz and Jenna, Sarah & Will Dakin, daughter Maggie and son Robbie, Gina & Rich Palm, sons Alex and Matthew and daughter Andrea.
