    SUDDEN DEATH OF PROMINENT MAN

    W. A. Trueman Passed Away Monday Afternoon– Had Been Ailing

    The death of W. A. Trueman, Barrister took place quite suddenly Monday about 5:30 at the residence of Mr. W.D. Duncan.

    For some time Mr. Trueman had been unwell, suffering from kidney trouble and heart disease. He had been undergoing treatment at the Hotel Dieu, but upon the arrival of his daughter Mrs. Hazen, who is a trained nurse, he rented the W.D. Duncan home for the summer months. Here as he was able to move about, he worked at his profession.

    On Sunday, he attended service in the Methodist church, and on Monday afternoon was out for an auto ride. Shortly after returning, and while working in his office he complained of not feeling well and taking up a book proceeded upstairs to lie down.

    A few minutes later his daughter heard a groan and rushed to his room to find him unconscious. She went to the phone to summon a physician and on returning to her patient found him breathing his last.

    The late Mr. W.A. Trueman was born in Westmorland County, N.B., and received his education at Mount Allison University, after which he studied law in the office of the late Judge King of St. John. Albert Co., where he has since practiced with exception of a few years spent at Dalhousie after the Campbellton fire in 1910. He was in his 68th year.

    Deceased was twice married, his first wife being Miss Georgina Currie, daughter of Rev. D. D. Currie. This marriage solemnized in 1886. Four children were born to this marriage one of whom, Miss Muriel passed away in 1908. the three surviving children are Mrs. George W. Hazen of St. John, Miss Georgina Helen Trueman of Rothesay, N.B. and Ernest Bayard, Manager of the Bank of Commerce at LaHave, N.S.

    On Oct. 4th, 1911 he married Miss Clara Jane Thompson, daughter of the late Robert Thompson, Dalhousie Jct., who along with the former children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father.

    During his residence here Mr. Trueman has held many important public and church offices. For years he was town solicitor, and at the time of his death was legal adviser for the Municipality of Restigouche. He was recognized as an able lawyer and one with integrity was never gainsaid. Ever ready to assist he made many friends throughout the town and county who will regret to hear of his sudden death. In the Methodist church and Sunday School he was one of its foremost members. A member of the Quarterly and Trustee Boards, and of late he has been treasurer of the latter. He was also a P.M. of the Masonic order, a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Canadian Home Circle.

    The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sudden bereavement.

    The funeral took place this afternoon 2:30 o'clock. Interment being in the Rural Cemetery.
