The death of Dorothy M. Buchanan of Fredericton occurred at Windsor Court on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010. Born in Sussex, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Arvilla (Milton) Buchanan. Dorothy attended school in Sussex until grade 5 when the family moved to Campbellton, N.B.
After completing high school, she then moved to Fredericton where she attended Provincial Normal School and U.N.B. Dorothy graduated from U.N.B. with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. She taught at Fredericton High School until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church, the UCW and the Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by two nieces, seven nephews, as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, one sister, Jean Williams, and two brothers, Donald and Cyril.
A Memorial service will be held at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 2pm. Rev. Dr. P. Short and Rev. H. G. MacKenzie will officiate. Interment will be in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. www.mcadamcfh.com
